The Passion of Leyla

A Sufi-inspired opera with composer Richard Marriott. On a moonlit night on the Black Sea, two sailors (Joseph and Sergio) work all night on the quarterdeck of a ship, despairing of the Commander's brutality. The Commander’s wife (Leyla) wakens from a recurring nightmare to watch the sailors. Leyla’s sister Fatima warns her not to sleep exposed to the sea.
